Welcome to the new and improved Tammy Hart Designs. You know the old saying, the cobbler’s kids have no shoes? Well, this is a rut that we designers commonly fall into as well. We pour all of our time into our clients’ websites while our own projects get stuck on the back burner.

Time for an Upgrade

I’m not too proud to admit that my old website was actually still running on WordPress version 2.9.2. This was because much of it was built on a plugin that has since become obsolete. I’m usually right on top of updates, but when 3.0 came out, it broke my entire site. One by one, theĀ piecesĀ of my site began to crumble. Permalinks began to act incorrectly, other plugins became more and more buggy, and because of that, my bounce rate nearly doubled! This is what happens when you don’t stay on top of upgrades, people!

So now I’ve gone to the other extreme. I’m now running on WordPress 3.2-beta because I just love living dangerously. There’s some fun goodies coming along with this version, including some major improvements to the admin interface. Happily, the functionality here is working perfectly, and it’s great to finally be taking advantage of newer technology.

Have a Look Around

There are some new things to explore here on the new website. The biggest thing is that I’ve finally updated my portfolio. I’ve cleaned out a few cobwebs and added some new items as well.

You should also check out the all new Speaking & Events page. There’s a special entry for each event that I’ve either spoken at or attended over the last couple of years, as well as new ones I’m planning to attend in the future.

A New Perspective

Because my web marketing & design services are all being funneled through the new company, this website will now serve as a professional blog and resume. Everything here will still be web design and WordPress related, with even more tutorials and updates than the previous site. Because we’ll no longer have a strong purpose for reaching clients, you can expect more technology related posts.

Feedback Welcomed

This isn’t the end of what’s to come. The web is alive and it’s always growing and changing. I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Thank you for visiting, and stay tuned for more by subscribing with the form in the left sidebar.
