New WordPress 2.5 and New Thoughts

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

WordPress has finally made a complete overhaul of their system, and it looks great. I've upgraded my main site and the testing area to WP 2.5 with minimal problems. There aren't any noticeable changes to you on the outside, but here on the inside of the new Admin Dashboard, it's a whole new world. Everything is so much sleeker and easier to use. The new media functionality is awesome. I did run into a snag there ...

Same Tune, Different Lyrics

That is what I think about free templates. Unless you are going to take that free template and then change it drastically yourself, then using a template that is distributed freely to hundreds and thousands of people, and then using it on your website/blog is like singing "Amazing Grace" to the tune of "Gilligan's Island". People will notice that the words are different, but the focus will be on the hilarity of mimicking a popular ...

Landing Page Marketing

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Marketing on the internet has so many options, it makes my head spin to think of them. One thing that is pretty popular, and I think a great idea, is to have a simple landing page. It's important for a website to have the most content about it's subject as possible, but when you're trying to focus sales on a main item, it's good to have a page that simplifies the information to hook an ...

The other day I was going through a checklist of good SEO WordPress tips, and realized that I wasn't using Google's WebMaster Tools! So I used my Google account to login, ...

WordPress Theme Success

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The market for unique WordPress themes is still a hot one, and I've done pretty good recently selling them on SitePoint. I'll use this thread to post my auctions.

Annoying and profitable, who’d a thunk it?

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Google now has video ads. Yes.. as though streaming, low-grade videos weren't annoying enough, now people will be plastering them for money too. *sigh* You gotta love capitalism! There is one thing that induces more pain and agony.. The embed code they supply you uses single quotes, and a div around the link. What in the world were they thinking? Don't they know that people that use the super cool WYSIWYG editor can't use divs unless ...

Swimming in the Pond

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

I've always wanted to be really good at logo design. There's just something about that perfect graphical reflection of a company and what they provide that get's me excited. I've long been envious of the talent and skill out there. I still am, nothing's changed. But I am standing in their midst tonight, and it makes me all giggly to think of it. I added the logo for HaloChurchSites.com to LogoPond months ago, ...
