I’m working a short week this week. Friday morning, we’ll drop the girls off at school, and then my husband will be dropping me off at the airport. That’s right, I’m flying out to San Francisco! I am so excited, I can barely contain myself.
I’ll be staying with my friend Adria Richards, whom I only met three months ago at WordCamp Atlanta. We hit it off as pretty good friends, and in fact, I am also working on a redesign project for her. (Stay tuned for that, ’cause it’s gonna be purty.) She just moved to San Fran a couple of weeks ago, so we are also going to take Sunday to see a few sites around town as well.
THE WordCamp
WordCamp San Francisco is the original WordCamp. Last year, they had over 700 attendees, and already have over 500 signed up for this year’s camp. Saturday will be an all day geek fest with the awesome speakers lineup they have. With an after party at the Automattic Lounge that night, coffee at 8 am on Sunday with “Women of WordPress” will sure be fun to drag in to. Then all day Sunday is a developer’s unconference. I’ll be missing this as it seems like a bit too much brainwork for me, and also, that’s my time to hang out with Adria before flying out early Monday morning. If you’re attending , and would still like to hang out with the coders, then Monday and Tuesday, they are having a code sprint. This is because…
WordPress 3.0
Sadly, WordPress 3.0 will not be releasing on May 1st as originally planned. There’s been talk that the first release candidate will go out then, but nothing definite that I know of. This throws a wrench in a few schedules for me, but hey, these guys are working for free, and putting a lot of blood sweat and tears into it. They deserve a medal, and a trophy, and a key to the city, and any other kind of honor we can give them.
So those are my plans, who’s going with me!?
