The turnout on May 15th to the IPSA meeting was really good and there were only a few empty seats. I was pretty nervous about the whole thing, and being my worst critic, I look back knowing there were a million things I could have done better, but still it seemed to be at least partially successful, and I can only get better, right?
The topic was “WordPress and Multimedia”. I presented a slideshow that took us first through the reasons why WordPress is so great, and then on to why multimiedia is important, and then included a few tutorials on how to blend them. The tutorials were fast and really simplistic, and they will actually be found in my upcoming book, “WordPress Multimida Cookbook”, but just as precursors to the more complex tutorials that will make up the meat of the book.
The first tutorial explained how you can insert an image with caption text below it. The next one showed how you can easily upload and play audio straight from a post or page. Then I went on to show a new video plugin just briefly, and I hear cool things are happening with Kaltura to make it even better. Finally, I showed how simple sIFR fonts can actually be with the help of our good friend, WordPress.
Here is the slideshow that I presented:
